Ancient Greco-Roman ship yields amphora treasure
Divers led by Jacques Cousteau raised a 600 ton Greco-Roman cargo ship off southern France. About 1,000 amphoras, some corked with wine 2,100 years old, plus 1,400 pieces of export dinnerware were found. The ship, dated to 230 BC, belonged to Marcus Sestius, a Roman naturalized Greek ruling Delos.
