Fifth District Court session reviews cases before Hammill

The Fifth District Court led by Judge F H Hammill finished a morning session with briefs in the Walter Salisbury case arguing confession was not voluntary. Other matters included Goff vs Salisbury, Boden guilty plea on larceny, Arraignments and continuances, fines in misconduct and assault cases, default judgments, and book account awards, with several matters postponed to later dates.

All Saints Day Observances Across Local Churches

All Saints Day services plan at St Michael's Trinity and St Mary's with masses at early morning hours and benediction in the evening. All Souls Day will feature a high mass of requiem at 8. St Elizabeth's outlines additional All Saints and All Souls masses with 5 and 7.30 in the morning and 5 7.30 and 8 for the latter. Holy Communion at 5.30 Friday morning followed by a Holy Hour from 7.30 to 8.30 in the evening.

Hold Up in Warren Delays Firemen's Return Trip

Hydraulion Engine and Hose Company members attended a Westerly firemen's fair Saturday evening. On return, their car halted in Warren as a live electric wire tangled in the axle. Suburban Power Station workers shut off the current before the vehicle could move again.

G A R Babbitt Post Plans Visit by Department Commander

The Babbitt Post No 15 of the G A R met at the G A R Hall on Friday evening. Orders announced the Department commander and staff will visit on November 10, and members voted to accept an invitation from the First Bristol Troop of Rhode Island Boy Scouts to attend a grand Army event in Grand Army Hall.

Republican candidate Charles E. Hughes pledges to pursue a tariff plan for American labor with a Republican Congress. Y M C A Bowling Opens Season With Nine Teams

The Y M C A bowling league began last evening with Dexter Thurber bowling the first box on each alley. Nine teams competed and the alleys were in good condition. The North Ends won two strings in the opening night.

The Baptist Young People’s Union held a Sunday 6 30 pm missionary conquest meeting led by Harold E. Pedley with a strong turnout. The program included hymns scripture reading prayers papers on Many Religions No Religion Mormonism Divided Protestantism The Indian and benediction. The Brotherhood meets Thursday at 8 00 pm at Col Arthur W Barrett’s home and the weekly prayer meeting Friday at 7 30 pm led by Alvin M Bullock on the topic Placed Upon Our Honor.

St Elizabeths Social Club Formed for Parish Events

A new organization named St Elizabeths Social Club was formed by parish members. Officers include President Frank Francis, Vice President Miss Isabelle August, Secretary Manuel Vargas, and Treasurer Chaplain Rev Rebello. The club plans socials and entertainments for the church, starting with a basket party and dance on Saturday evening November 18 at Columbia Hall.

Pleasant Surprise Party for Bertha Menard

Miss Bertha Menard celebrated her thirteenth birthday at home on 27 Oliver street with two young friends hosting a pleasant surprise. Vocal and instrumental selections were heard, games were played, and a fine collation was served in a delightfully spent evening.
