Inspection of Babbitt Post Hears Armed Services Program

An open meeting of Babbitt Post No 15 G A R was held in G A R Hall with Department Commander Murdock McKenzie inspecting and staff in attendance. The program featured singing, flag salute, address by McKenzie, remarks by Ezra Dixon and others, original verses by Adjutant John Holton, and musical numbers. Department officers also inspected the State Soldiers Home.

Exemption Claims Processed At State House

State district boards disposed of 662 new exemption cases at the State House in Providence. The majority were on industrial grounds. William Wood of the Bristol Industrial Trust Company was classified as a necessary industrial worker in class 2 division D.

Republican Rally Tonight At Pastime Theatre

A large Republican rally is set for this evening at eight o clock in the Pastime Theatre. Speakers include United States Senator LeBaron B Colt Gov R Livingston Beeckman Clark Burdick candidate for Congress and Attorney John 5 Murdock of Providence. The gallery is reserved for ladies and escorts and the Herreshoff Marine Band provides music.

Women urged to join war production at Gorham plant

A Rhode Island letter from the Council of National Defense calls for a thousand new workers at Gorham to manufacture hand grenades for the spring drive. It appeals to women who have never worked before to apply through the Federal Employment Bureau on Mathewson or Westminster streets or directly at the Gorham plant in Phillipsdale within 52 days to avoid jeopardizing supplies for troops.

Mosaic Tabernacle Lectures Begin at Baptist Church

Beginning next Sunday evening November 3 Pastor O H Wallace will present a series on the Mosaic Tabernacle with illustrated talks. Each lecture repeats Tuesday at 7 30 to allow members of other churches to attend without missing service. A weekly prayer meeting is set for Thursday at 7 30 with topic Kingdom Bequeathed. A Halloween party in the vestry at 8 features spooks witches and goblins welcomed by the church.

Colts Win Football Game On Child Street Grounds

The Colt Junior Athletic Association defeated Warren Athletic Club 35 to 0 on Sunday at the Child street grounds Warren. The game lasted 20 minutes due to darkness and few accidents. Almeida starred for the Juniors with six completed passes. Graham Dramvelle and Wesley starred for Warren in a well played contest.

Evening classes begin this evening at Colt Memorial High School and John Post Reynolds School from 7 to 9.
