Rail freight loss hits Bristol firms hard

Bristol plant officials call the hurricane damage to railroad lines costly and inconvenient as freight by rail remains halted since September. Factory Halloween Party Planned Amid Studio Row

First six man football game thrills Hebron crowd

In Hebron Nebraska on September 22 1934 about 1000 fans witnessed the first game between two six man football teams. The experiment proved six man football a perfect fit for small rural high schools and the format expanded to about 1500 high schools nationwide with colleges adopting it for intramural play.

Chester High's New Football Era Born From Small School Idea

In 1934 at Chester Nebraska a teacher coach Stephen Epler and superintendent Dean Moomey devised a six player football variant with an 80 by 40 yard field and 8 to 10 minute quarters. They tested it with nearby schools Alexandria Hardy Chester Belvidere under Hebron College approval leading to a four hours drill and an exhibition game drawing a larger crowd than expected.
