Bus Driver Daniel F. O'Brien Dies by Self Harm

Special bulletin reports Daniel F. O'Brien a 40 year old bus driver for New England Transportation died by suicide at 1:00 p m today at the Thames Street freight yard. He drove a Chevrolet coupe Massachusetts plate 594-160 and is believed to have been boarding in Bristol with prior addresses Taunton and Fitchburg. Despondent in recent weeks he had been boarding with Leonard A. Waite at 25 Noyes Avenue. Police investigators Dr Samuel D. Clark and Sgt Demers were on the scene.

Balzano Seeks 150 Dollars For Halloween Drive

Anthony A Balzano, chair of the Legion Halloween party, urged Bristol residents to donate $150 by Tuesday. He said only a few dollars have come in and proposed 150 civic minded people give $1 each to fund a safe, enjoyable event for the town’s kids and curb vandalism.

Bristol County Voiture to Install Officers in Public Ceremony

A large crowd of visiting voyageurs from the various voitures of the state will attend the annual installation of officers of Bristol County Voiture No. 1188 Forty Hommes et Ving Chevaux tomorrow at 8 oclock in Kearney Fest Home. Grand Chef de Gare Raymond Richards of Providence will lead the ceremonies with Chef de Gare Angelo Piccerelli presiding. Delegations from Voitures 252 1109 1129 and 1166 join the event open to the public with dancing refreshments and a social hour. Walter C Walander and Manuel P Goulart head the arrangements and entertainment respectively.

Tank Street Becomes Carr Lane As Planning Board Sets Roads Rule

The Planning Board renamed Tank Street to Carr Lane and warned Francis Brothers to complete Cedarcrest Shores road work or face billing via the bonding company. Bristol Committee Appeals Zoning Board Ruling

Bristol town spends over 20000 for legal services in three years with a projected total by year end 1952. Notable payments include 3500 for March 15 1949 work on Bristol County Water Company contract interpretation, 2258.50 on July 11 1951 for Sewer Construction Committee counsel, and 4632.50 approved last week. Solicitor salary rose from 1650 to 1897.50.

U S Rubber 25 Year Club to be Feted Sunday

The U S Rubber Co will establish a 25 year club with a 4 pm Sunday banquet at the Midway House. J Francis Connell notes Ern est G Brown will be the main speaker and that 25 year and pensioned workers will be honored. About 162 have 25+ years of service and 90 are pensioned. 27 have over 40 years.
