Red Feather Aid for Bristol Child Welfare Agency Work
The Rhode Island Child Service, a Red Feather Agency, handles social work in Bristol outside of tax funded relief. Referrals come when a child's welfare is at risk, aiming to preserve homes, but if needed, place children in supervised boarding homes. Court action may lead to state custody or agency custody, with Doyle Avenue Home used for emergency or temporary placement. In 1948 the agency referred 15 cases involving 50 children. Doyle Avenue Home cared for four children, 45 days, with two in boarding homes for 547 days. Up to 1949 the numbers show continued activity and care placements.

Gardening plans for new land and moving trees
The Weekend Gardener advises fall plowing on new illite acid land with lime at 50 units per 1000 sq ft and erosion control by plowing across slopes. On level ground prepare soil with a 25 pounds per 1000 sq ft harrowed bed and sow rye at 2% pounds per 1000 sq ft. For relocating 2 to 4 inch trees, trench around the trunk, wrap the root ball in heavy paper, and move in late fall or early 1951 with root growth expectations.
Townies suffer worst defeat in history 42 to 0
The 1949 Bristol Townies were routed 42 to 0 by Cranston City Hall in a Sunday game at Cranston Stadium. With an injury plagued squad, the Townies could not mount offense or stop City Hall’s three deep defense. Next up, they host North Providence at Guiteras Field Sunday.
