Fatal Accident at Depot Kills Moore and Injures Tessier

At the Franklin street depot a pile of 10 foot steel window frames toppled, pinning James Moore and Ferdinand Tessier. Moore died of a broken neck and fractured skull. Tessier suffered a fractured skull and skull base injury but showed signs of recovery after surgery. Moore leaves a wife and two children. Tessier lives on Thames street with his wife visiting from the hospital.

Assumes New Position Captain Robertson Leaves Town

Captain John T. Robertson, six years as assistant engineer of Bristol and Warren Water Works, departs for Utica New York to join Consolidated Water Company of Utica as assistant engineer. A prominent local figure in military and fraternal circles, he has led Bristol Aerie Eagles and St Alban's Lodge activities and appeared on local stages. His wife will remain with her parents before joining him later in Utica.

Improvements at Herreshoff boat shops underway

Work began yesterday on a new ator house and a 50 by 65 foot three story brick and wood storehouse with concrete foundations and a reinforced concrete firesafe vault. An addition to the foundry 30 by 30 feet two stories high will be built. C I Bigney Construction Company of Providence is the contractor.

Workers at the United States Rubber Company Woonsocket received notice of wage increases to take effect next Monday. The existing 10 percent bonus will become permanent in regular pay, with further adjustments to be announced later. The change starts Monday Oct 22 1917.

Cornelius Riley of Bourn Street Bristol learns his sister Mary Means alive after 54 years. She left Ireland as a 13 year old. now living in Auburn New York with two sons in the National Army she traced him to Bristol and they shared a joyful evening. Riley is a longtime member of St Mary’s Church.

Automobile Runs Away While Grocer Delivers Order

Julio Xavier grocer left his delivery truck on State Street while delivering an order. The brake released and the auto rolled down the hill striking the White Tonsorial Parlors barber pole and wrecking it. The barber pole was damaged but the car suffered little harm.

Industrial Trust Co Seeks Federal Reserve Membership

The Board al Rizagters of the Industrial Trust Company in Providence voted unanimously to apply for membership in the Federal Reserve System. The move follows a thorough investigation and was recommended by a special committee led by H Martin Brown, Frank C Nichols, and Eben N Littlefield. This makes the trust company the first in the state to pursue Fed membership, preserving charter rights while gaining federal supervision and access to rediscount facilities.

First Successful Flight at Kitty Hawk by Wilbur Wright
