A community jubilee observance at St Elizabeth’s Church features Rev Ar semlon leading a Communion service at 7 and a Benediction to close. The event honors the parish with solemn proceedings and music, continuing festive traditions.
Bristol Republicans launch the local campaign with a Sunday night rally in Italo American Hall Hope Street W Fred Williams presiding Speakers include West Warwick candidate Jidke Jamies O McManus Peacedale nominee Thomas P Hazard for General Treasurer Also listed are Magee Pasquarelli and other district reps The event opens a five rally series organized by local committee members.
Members of the Amicae Guild at the First Baptist Church finalize plans for a turkey supper to be served in the church vestry on October 27. General chair Mrs Henry S Campbell leads a committee including Miss Pauline Brelsford, Mrs Janet Dixon, Mrs Margaret Batchelor, Miss Carol James, Mrs Mabel Liscomb and Miss Dorothy Mott ex officio.
Rally Day will be observed at the First Congregational Church on Sunday. Dr. Frederick V. Martin, director of Martin Hall, will speak at the church school session at noon. The evening program will feature a second part with a focus on government relief for the unemployed.

Principal Edward J. Fitzgerald announced Colt Memorial High School elected William A. Bottomley Jr and Frank Catallano as presidents of the junior and senior efffisses. Other officers named include Andrew Del Toro Marty Aiello Nicholas Mancieri Attilio Topazio Mariano Buculo and Edward Russo with executive boards to be chosen next week.
After the September hurricane, Guiteras Memorial and other schools lost five days. Elmer S. Mapes reports flood damage at Guiteras, including a four foot water line on the field and bent backstop, damaged boiler and vacuum pump. Heat and power outages delayed classes until October 5.
The Rev. Richard Lief of Church House Providence will recount personal experiences in Russia Italy and Germany in a sermon titled Religion Under Three Dictatorships at the 11 a m service Sunday in St Michael's Church.
Educator Dr Joseph Mayer told a Bristol audience at Colt Memorial High School that avoiding war hinges on people opposing conflict. He argued permanent peace is possible if citizens know the facts and support collective action by democracies, the League of Nations, and non aggressive pacts.
Bristol Jews will close the Feast of Tabernacles with memorial services at the Synagogue on High Street Tuesday morning. Rabbi Maurice Cohen of the Sons of Zion Synagogue Providence will lead Yiskor. Hashanah Rabbo is October 16 and Shemini Atzereth October 17.
Two men were injured when their car crashed into a cement wall in front of St Marys Church on Wood Street. Driver Vincent I McMahon suffered facial injuries and a chin wound with six stitches. partner Chhigh? treated for hip and head injuries. A lawyer passenger was ordered to appear in Fifth District Court next Monday on a motor vehicle violation charge. Police say the car mounted the sidewalk and plowed into the wall after trying to turn at Providence Street corner.
Stephen Campanella was elected president of the Hi Y Club of the Bristol Y M C A at the annual meeting. He succeeds Louis Romano. Other officers include Pasquale Codola as vice president Angelo Massa as secretary treasurer. Vincent Santo headed the membership committee. Anthony Agatiello and Joseph Securo are club advisors. Plans were discussed for a Halloween party later this month.
The Olympian Club of the Bristol Y M A held a special meeting selecting a nominating committee led by John P. Marshall to draft a slate of officers. A coach and manager will be chosen at the next meeting Monday night. August Almeida and Gaetano Marino were admitted as new members.
Colt High's football eleven meets Portsmouth Priory in a non league game tomorrow afternoon at Portsmouth. Coach Joseph A Murgo will field the same lineup as in the two prior games. Catallano, a halfback used in those games, is out for the season with a broken leg suffered in the De La Salle scoreless game. The match does not count in Class C standings but affects final state standings.
Bristol police moved the second annual Police Beneficial Association ball from Sept 30 to November 25 after the hurricane disruption. The event at Bristol Casino features dancing grand march and cabaret entertainment with Sgt Euclid J Demers as entertainment committee chairman.
