St Albans Meeting Draws Record Crowd

The sixth annual meeting of Masonic Lodges named St. Alban's drew over 400 visitors from multiple states and Canada to Bristol. A 2 pm special session included a reception by Leonard A. Waitt. Guests toured the Nike Site, then a 4 pm social and banquet at the National Guard Armory featured remarks by Irving Tucker and others. The Masonic Youth Organization performed and Billy Boy Duffy, 82, joined for a finale.

John Wilson Elected Senior Class President

John Wilson was elected president of the Bristol Senior High School Class of 1960 at a recent meeting announced last week. Other officers include William Sisson as vice president Nancy Securo secretary Sue Antinucci treasurer and an executive board of Richard Cabral Edward Castro Ronald DeLuca Mario Estrella and Roland Rodrigues. Miss E Doris Bullock is class advisor. Richard Ruggiero was elected Student Council president for the coming year with Edward Castro as vice president Mary Daponte secretary Frances Cavallaro treasurer John Romano senior representative Sandra Hazen Edmond Borges Joseph Jackson Edward Menezes Junior reps Helen Rounds Joseph King Frank Gromling Sophomore rep Michael Securo advisor.

Bristol Colts Edge Scituate Spartans 14 to 13 in tight win

The Bristol Colts won their third straight game by a single point over the Scituate Spartans, 14 to 13. Roland Rodrigues scored two first half touchdowns, including a 24 yard pass and a 30 yard rush, while George Gallagher added Scituate’s TD on a 25 yard run in the third period. Extra points by the Colts came on rushing plays.

Yacht Club Elects Officers and Commodore

John R. Watson was elected commodore of the Bristol Yacht Club at the annual meeting last Tuesday evening. Other officers include John M. Watson secretary B Earl Anthony treasurer plus members Everett Adams operating committee Warner H Tabor finance committee John Tiplady race committee Mrs Roger J Deitz entertainment committee George Snell membership committee and Robert V. Statue Is Given to Trinity Church Bristol

A four foot statue of Christ the Saviour in Carrara marble was erected on a five foot Vermont granite pedestal on the lawn of Trinity Episcopal Church Bristol. Rector Rev John N Sinclair supervised the project funded by Bristol residents. The base is five feet square concrete underground. Total cost reported at 1050 dollars.

Navy Recruiter Urges Enlistment With Christmas Leave

Stanley A Vose local Navy recruiter announces Christmas leave for recruits who join by November 16. He says male and female high school graduates who qualify for the Navy High School Graduate Training Program will receive prompt enlistment, though quotas are limited. He notes educational opportunities in the Navy and directs inquiries to the Navy Recruiting Station OS 4-2312.
