Planning Board Faces Limits as Ordinance Moves Ahead
The planning board, asserting advisory status, debated adopting a new ordinance to gain power over future town development. Dr. Samuel D. Clark and others planned a Friday meeting to finish discussing the water question and the ordinance. Developer Francisco T. Franca must post a performance bond to guarantee water installation, with sections B and C slated for water and A to be connected by the town council approved plat. Water assessments will apply to deeds, and a meeting with Fred P. Stradling of Bristol County Water Co. is to seek guarantees of service and cost. The board favors delaying plat acceptance until water installation is assured.
