Townies Fall to Riverside Crescents in Wet Stadium Showdown
Bristol Townies, defending Colonial League champions, lost 7-0 at Memorial Stadium in East Providence to the Riverside Crescents under heavy rain and slick conditions. Jimmie Sousa led Bristol in a rugged ground game but a late first period drive stalled and no points were scored. The teams avoided a high scoring night as fumbles plagued both backfields and the field remained slippery. The loss sends Bristol to 1949 league record tests ahead of their Columbus Day clash with Club 400 on Guiteras Memorial Field.
