The Community Chest drive led by Supt. Edward J. Fitzgerald runs November 12 to 26 to support local agencies including the Bristol District Nursing Association Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts the Y M C A and Rhode Island Child Services The campaign names majors A A Edmonds Mrs Earl G Sturdevant Henry Wood and Mrs Raymond S Brightman who will appoint captains and workers The goal amount is not set but expected to exceed last year due to rising operating costs and increased need.

Water lines tested Tuesday by rating exchange survey

Bristol residents will see flow tests on Tuesday October 15 by engineers from the New England Fire Insurance Rating Exchange to update records and determine hydrant flow. Discolored water may occur but is harmless and will clear after flushing. the Bristol County Water Company plans to flush mains at night to minimize inconvenience.

Helmets For Hallowe en Dispatched for Youngsters

Council President J Floyd Huestis secured 250 Civilian Defence helmets with other materials in one block and proposes distribution to youngsters as a souvenir during Hallowe en. The Major offers the Legion Hallowe en Committee a role in handing them out. He notes 250 more helmets on hand and float a plan to distribute all.
