Bristol’s Blue Eagle Parade Plans Lead to Mass Meeting

In Bristol a mass meeting advanced parade plans for an October Blue Eagle demonstration. Col Alfred M Merriman led as chief marshal with veterans sponsors. A two o’clock parade will pause business for a three hour shutdown as floats from local clubs and merchants join the event.

Charles Hartley served as announcer amid humorous chatter and acts including recitations, solos, and a news review. Ladies Auxiliary to Stage Benefit Series at Colt Auditorium

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Community Athletic Field Committee will open a series of benefit events with a musicale Friday at Colt Memorial High School Auditorium. Nora E. Dwyer chairs the arrangements with assistants including Mrs. Raymond S. Brightman and Miss Marguerite Brogan. The program features instrumental, vocal, and quartet selections by local performers and a soprano solo lineup with piano and violin pieces, all to support the community athletic field project for scholastic sports and external athletic events.

School Board Ratifies Subcommittee Action On Evening Schools

The School Committee ratified last night the subcommittee on evening schools reappointing the entire teaching staff for this year. Reappointed: Miss Annie D Sisson principal Edward J Rinaldi English and Commercial Law Miss E Doris Bullock Commercial Miss Bessie B Tobin Commercial Mrs Helen P Morris Cooking and Sewing Miss Alice G Murphy Americanization. Additional teachers to be hired as enrollment rises, with temporary filling by Supt. Mapes if needed.

Bristol Garden Club Seeks 1000 for New Trees Campaign

The Bristol Garden Club plans a drive to fund 200 new trees by next frost with a goal of 1000, led by Mrs. Fred M. Dixon Jr. Donations begin at five dollars per tree and a $50 starter list exists. The project aims to replace aging trees and preserve the town’s beauty through community support.
