Town Council discussed a petition from Mrs Arbara S LeClair alleging sanitary conditions at the Hugh Murphy property on Thames Street pose a health risk. The matter was referred to the Health Committee for action.
Charles B. Rockwell prepares the Usher Place residence as the Mattie B. S. Rockwell Convalescent Home a memorial to the late Mrs. Rockwell. The facility will offer short term care for patients recovering after hospital treatment and will be overseen by a competent matron with district nurse visits. It is not a hospital and will not admit contagious or chronic cases.
The Hydraulion Engine and Hose Company and the Dreadnaught Hook Ladder and Hose Company held monthly meetings on Wednesday evening. Members voted to attend the Brockton Fair muster today at 6 30 in auto trucks and to accept the Dreadnaught fair invitation for Saturday evening. John Grabert was elected steward replacing Benjamin Dorstrom who resigned. A moonlight excursion was deemed a success and the second annual fair committee reported progress. Supper was served by the entertainment committee. The King Philip Steam Fire Engine Company arranged to join the muster at the Brockton Fair today with members and friends departing at 6 30 in large motor trucks.
In a regular session Judge F H Hammill heard cases including murder charges against George W Healis Cecil Victor Brown and Henry W Spellman, all discontinued at police request. Elizabeth F Mohr admitted aiding and abetting and was not prosecuted. Frederico Corvino admitted lewd conduct and was sentenced to six months in the State Workhouse. He appealed. Raffaela F Cali held for unlawful cohabitation and probable guilty finding with $500 held for grand jury action.
Captain Nathaniel Grenne Herreshoff renowned yacht designer and head of Herreshoff Manufacturing Company marries Miss Ann Roebuck of Providence in a simple ceremony at St Michael's Church. The bride is attended by Grace DeWolf Luga-Vina of San Juan and Frank Roebuck serves as best man. After a brief reception they sail on Helianthus for a wedding trip and plan to reside at Hope and Walley streets.
The Star features the fifth episode of The Broken Coin in two acts as top liner tonight with other films listed for the week. The Pastime offers Henry B. Walthall in Beulah siren six parts with Joyce Moore tomorrow, along with Francis X. Bushman in The Prince Party two parts.
This evening choir rehearsal at 7 45. Sunday morning 10 30 preaching by Rev Dr A C McGilton on A Master Stroke in Diplomacy vs Defeating the Devils. Sunday School and Bible Class 11 45 Epworth League 6 45 led by Miss Ethel J Saunders on Promises of the World's Evangelization. Evening sermon A Challenge Nothing but the Truth Dare we do it with special music by the male quartet.
