King Philip Engine Wins Third Prize at Brockton Muster
King Philip Steam Fire Engine No 1 won third prize at the Brockton fire muster amid rain. Hydraulion and Hancock teams posted longer streams, but King Philip’s 197 feet 8 inches secured $176 and strong townsfolk cheers. Open house and a celebratory parade followed with a broom parade and bonfires.

Annual Meeting of Bristol Y M C A Reports Improve Work
The Bristol Young Men's Christian Association held its annual meeting last evening with about 50 members in attendance. Reports from the President General Secretary Treasurer Physical Director and Religious Work Committee were read and accepted showing progress across all areas. Officers will continue in place while constitutional changes moved the annual meeting date from October to May. The bowling alley committee seeks authority to add two alleys at a cost not exceeding $2000. A social hour followed with graphophone selections from a Columbia loan.

Claim Against Estate For Breach Of Promise Of Marriage
A $80,000 claim against the estate of the late Michael R. Downey was filed in Providence municipal court by Mary HE. Wrynn of Fall River through counsel. Wrynn previously resided in Downey’s town and sued in Superior Court for $80,000, won $10,000, then saw the verdict set aside by the Supreme Court. Downey died before the retrial date and counsel notes the Superior Court action was dropped. the current filing replaces it as a $30,000 estate claim.
