Mrs. Maria Geiger a 21 year old who arrived in New York from Germany on the SS Italia canceled a planned flight after her husband Ronald Roy Geiger met her at the dock. He had been aboard the SS McGowan DD 678 at Newport andvard and was able to be there to reassure her. She planned to fly to California to visit a sister in San Francisco but is staying at the Harriet Bradford Inn in town. The couple married last July near Kiel Germany. She was born in Nebraska in 1934 and left for Germany with her German parents.

Bristol's unemployment rate has returned to normal levels after Collins and Aikman Plant H closed in 1954. In November 1953, 550 were unemployed. now 480 are out of work with 220 men and 260 women.
