Oregon farmer returns with eight Korean orphans for adoption
An Oregon farmer Henry Spencer Holt and his wife Bertha adopt eight Korean orphans, joining their six biological children. A special act of Congress allowed the large family adoption after Holt visited multiple Korean orphanages, one child died during the process, and Pan American Airlines arranged nurse support for the return journey.

Land Purchase Clears Way for New Guard Armory
After an eleven month wait the state took title to 13.9 acres on Metacom avenue south of the Veterans Home clearing the way for a new Armory for Battery C of the 243rd AAA Gun Battalion. Federal funds cover three quarters with the state paying the rest totaling about 180000 dollars. An architect will be hired soon and bids called after plans are finished. Groundbreaking is expected in three months with nine months of construction pushing completion next fall. An inspection by Col John Wall and Herbert Holgate will include test borings to verify foundation suitability.

Man Prefers His Auto For Living Quarters
Joseph Faria, 33, was arrested by Officer Fred Serbst after a violent assault at a liquor establishment on Mt Hope avenue. He admitted sleeping in his automobile as his permanent address. The victim, John Amaral, 41, suffered two lacerations needing six stitches at Dr. A F D Angelo's office. Faria was taken to jail.

Democratic Group Sanctions Tax Exemptions
