Jaycees to Launch Community Survey in Bristol
The Bristol Jaycees chair Louis Annarummo lead a community survey project named the Development Survey, with John P Andrade Richard J Sylvia and Eric Dober on the committee. The survey, already tested in East Greenwich West Warwick and Westerly, seeks resident input on town improvements and will be printed in The Phoenix for clipping and mailing.

Governor Notte to Hold Court in Bristol October 19
Governor John A. Notte will visit Bristol on October 19 for the first time as Rhode Island's governor. He will hold court at the town clerk's office in Burnside Memorial Building from 1 to 3 p.m. to hear residents and discuss state administration issues. Kenneth Barnard announced the visit, noting it gives locals a chance to speak directly to the governor and offer suggestions.

James O Niel age 29 of 440 Jackson St Fall River was found dead in Portsmouth waters near the Mt Hope Bridge after a 6 45 pm sighting of a green sedan on the span. Police report he had been a mental patient and recently despondent. identification from a driver’s license.

Bristol Community Fund Campaign Underway in Bristol
Red Feather Drive kicks off the Bristol Community Fund drive running through November 12. Volunteers will solicit residents and businesses for a $23,650 goal to support six agencies including Boy and Girl Scouts, Bristol District Nursing Association, Children’s Friend and Service, USO, and Bristol YMCA. General chairman is Nathan Eisenstadt with industrial and small business co chairs Manuel Sousa Elmer Rounds Francis Procacciani and Joseph E Goulart. Payroll deduction plans aim to boost contributions with small weekly deductions.
