Holy Name Society Hosts Communion Breakfast at St. Marys

Holy Name Society will hold a Communion Breakfast on Sunday October 13 in the auditorium after the 8 o clock Mass. Joseph Castro Receives Presidential Unit Citation

Joseph Castro, ex-Amm2c USNR, son of Mr and Mrs Manuel Castro of 10 Perry Plat, earned the Presidential Unit Citation for heroism by USS Belleau Wood’s crew in the Pacific War from 18 Sept 1943 to 15 Aug 1945. He received the facsimile and ribbon bar with a star and works at US Rubber Company in Maintenance.

Change of Schedule for Warren VA Office

The Taft School appointed Ruth Hazledine Watson as teacher for a new second and third grade class to begin October 14. Repairs were approved to add two doors and improve safety and lighting. About 27 students will be housed at Taft after transfers from Valley School amid overcrowding concerns.
