Julio F Xavier Jr. resigned from the Bristol Republican Town Committee after his membership was ruled to violate the Hatch Act. He is a civil engineer with the U S Army Engineers. Julio Mello Tavares was elected to replace him. Campaign plans and rally arrangements were discussed, with absentee ballots urged for voters away on Election Day November 5.

Dr. Howard W. Church who died Sunday at his Bristol home will have a 2 PM funeral tomorrow at First Congregational Church. Rev. Charles R. Cooley will officiate. burial in North Cemetery. He practiced as a Bristol dentist for 40 years and was noted as a dog judge and breeder of Russian Wolf Hounds. He was born October 19, 1879, son of James C. and Mary Church, married Sarah Burnham Paull, and left a brother Samuel W. Church and two nieces.
