An American funded hostel at Bath Bridge Bristol opened to house service women and temporary homeless families. Bristol Rhode Island contributed 5,000 dollars toward the building, with 250 dollars more added by Mr. E S Scudder, as part of the Namesakes Towns Association.

The Tree Replacement Committee launched a campaign to restore trees lost in the 1938 hurricane. Attendees from Bristol Highlands Ferry Road the Narrows Beach Terrace and Papascush. Tree Warden Joseph C Kinder announced cooperation from the SAR department to provide labor and reduce costs, with State Highway help hoped for along Hope Street. Each tree costs about $10 including planting. funds will be collected via a Tree Replacement Fund with Wm H Angevine as treasurer.
