Blithewold the summer home of Mr and Mrs William L McKee at Ferry Hill was burglarized on Sept 24. jewelry valued about 1800 was taken from rooms on the second floor including a diamond brooch bar pins and a pearl ring belonging to Mrs Quincy A Shaw. 24 pieces were in the room eight were taken and a money filled pocketbook was left untouched.

A joyous miscellaneous shower honored Miss Annie Kathleen Hodgdon, bride to be of William S Liscomb, at the home of Mrs Liscomb on Burton street. Rose petals greeted the bride as she entered the parlor. Decorations in yellow and white complemented fall towers and a miniature wedding scene at the dining table. Gifts filled elaborately decorated baskets as a chicken salad supper was served. Music and games followed the festivities hosted by members of the World Wide Guild of the First Baptist Church.

Sir Thomas Lipton's Shamrock V, the unsuccessful America’s Cup challenger, departed Bristol harbor for a three week Atlantic crossing to its home port.
