Bristol War Salvage Drive Urges More Rags and Fats

Ian M. Walker, Bristol Salvage Committee chair, urged continued saving of rags waste paper and kitchen fats. He noted wartime uses for waste paper and announced plans for clothing drives and tin can collection with a Friday meeting at Paull House. Used fats will be worth two red points plus 4 cents per pound starting December 13, boosting Rhode Island households to meet a 135 500 pound monthly quota.

Four People Injured In Early Morning Car Crash

Four motorists were injured in a 6 am crash just north of the Silver Creek bridge. Driver Dorothy Burbridge 33 of West Farm Ferry Road dozed at the wheel and struck a telephone pole. She suffered a deep chin cut requiring seven stitches and other injuries. Passenger William Burbridge 38 sustained contusions and a possible ankle fracture. Mass Nnechua Moyen 27 of Diamond Hill Road Weaoersocket had a fractured right foot and knee contusions with a sprained back. Passenger Pmie Maven 24, a Fort Adams soldier, was shaken and taken to Fort Adams hospital.

Augustine DeFelice to wed Miss Seth Decker in Jackson

Mrs Mary DeFelice of 270 High street announces the marriage of her son Augustine to Miss Seth Decker of Los Angeles California. The ceremony occurred in Jackson Mississippi on November 1 while DeFelice was stationed with an Arms Ordnance Unit. Attendants were Miss Catherine Walker of San Francisco and Seth Teddy Steliga of New Bedford. The bride returns to Los Angeles to establish her home.

American Legion installs new officers at joint ceremony

At Kearney Post No. 6 a joint ceremony installed officers for Barrington Warren and Bristol Posts. District leaders George W Malter and Louis Stewart presided with numerous department officers in attendance. New post commanders named were Donald Gladue Henry Petrella and Brooks Hawkins. New Chlorinator to Cost 1750 After Old Unit Repairs

Donat Gladge, chair of the Sewer Commission, said a factory report indicates the old chlorinator’s heavy castings are no longer made and replacement would take six to seven months. Repairing would cost at least 700 with little return, leaving a net $1750 after old-unit allowance. Town Council to discuss next Tuesday.
