New Coal Mine Deal Expands Rhode Island Operations

John Jermyn & Co of Scranton have acquired an interest in Rhode Island Coal Co, owner of Portsmouth mines. A Boston-led group has modernized the mine, built a $500,000 plant, and plans to raise output to about 1,000 tons daily. Jermyn to open Boston office and install a mining superintendent to oversee expansion.

Star Theater Highlights Big Attendance for Varied Bill

Star Theater drew large crowds yesterday with a matinee and evening show. Highlights included Vitagraph features, The Peacemaker, Ward and Raynor in a singing act, the Lorette Bros. acrobatics, and the Argyle Four in costume. A complete picture change is planned tonight and for tomorrow, with Ward and Raynor and the Trette Bros. staying through the week. Usual matinee and evening prices apply.

Funeral for Mrs Mary Riley Cosgrove at St Marys Church

The funeral for Mrs Mary Riley Cosgrove was held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from 276 Wood Street and 9:30 a.m. requiem mass followed at St Marys Church celebrated by Rev. John F. Downing. The sermon drew a large crowd withGrace Conley singing Ave Maria during offertory. Floral tributes were many and burial occurred at St Marys Cemetery with pallbearers James Cashin James Brown Cornelius Riley John McElvoyne among those named.
