Colt Barrington Final Set As Class C Title Battle Thursday

Barrington, Burrillville, and Bristol vie for the Class C crown in a Thanksgiving showdown at Barrington. Burrillville can share the title only if Barrington wins or ties. Bristol must beat Barrington to claim the title, but Bristol aims to stop the top scorer Roland Rodrigues and challenge an Eagles victory as coach Joe Gleason’s Colts look to slow them. Game kicks off at 10 00 am with 75 cent admission.

Bristol Sewer Commission Elects Officers at Friday Meeting

The Bristol Sewer Commission held elections naming Henry W. Pacheco plant superintendent succeeding Louis Tortorice, with Tortorice becoming chairman and George R. Fish reappointed secretary. The Manchester Perry Street sewer extension was completed by Py & Lastie. Beginning January 1, 1960, drain layers must obtain a license from the Sewer Commission, renewed yearly at no charge. A special meeting on Friday December 4 will begin work on the 1960 budget for the annual town meeting after budget committee review.

Man Drives to Death in Middletown Crash

Eugene Uhalti 49 of 135 Chenington Street Middletown dies after his car crashes into a tree following a rear end collision with Ronald Clarke 24 of 201 GAR Highway Swansea on Hope Street. Clarke and passenger William Dubuc 27 escape injury. Ubaldi rescued from wreck by nearby residents. Continued on Page 2.

Barrington Council urged to study Bristol Water Co purchase

The League of Women Voters of Barrington asks the town council to appoint a committee to investigate public purchase of the Bristol County Water Co and to sponsor enabling legislation in the U S General Assembly. The group suggests buying Barrington assets or the entire system by three county towns. This is the third such request in 18 months.

Capone elected chair of Bristol Republican town committee

Former town solicitor Luci en Capone won the chairmanship at last night’s GOP meeting succeeding Raymond Walker who resigned for business reasons. Raymond DeLeo also nominated, but Capone prevailed and DeLeo pledged support. Capone pledged active work for the committee and Bristol, aiming for constructive opposition and welfare. Capone’s prior posts and education are noted, with his 1950s service as solicitor and other public roles.

Thanksgiving Services Across Bristol Churches

Bristol churches announce a series of Thanksgiving services on Thanksgiving morning and eve. St Michael's hosts a 9:00 AM Choral Eucharist led by Canon Delbert W Tildesley with a Junior Choir. Our Lady of Mt Carmel offers Masses at 7:30 and 9:00 AM, celebrant Father Mario Bordignon. First Baptist holds a 7:00 PM Wednesday service led by Rev Walter Swanson. Trinity Episcopal plans a 9:30 AM Thanksgiving Mass with Rev John N Sinclair celebrant. St Mary's features an 8:00 AM Mass by Hope Circle, Daughters of Isabella, with Msgr Charles H Lynch celebrant. a 7:00 AM Parish Mass also scheduled. St Elizabeths offers 7:00 and 9:00 AM Thanksgiving Masses with Rev Henrique Rocha celebrant. First Congregational has a Thanksgiving Eve service at 7:30 PM led by Rev Albert E Hutchison and Junior Pilgrime music. Scotty Ross of Whiting Muk Co to speak at Rotary Club. Mrs. George Ruggiero thanks friends for support during illness.
