Town Council Adopts Action On New Fire Alarm Whistle

Chief Walter Coggeshall told the semi monthly meeting that the new fire alarm whistle is unsatisfactory and not loud enough. Council referred the issue to the Special Fire Alarm Committee for immediate remedy while other actions included liquor licenses, sinking fund funding, and various public works notices.

Bristol's Roll of Honor Seeks Bristol Men in Service

The Phoenix urges relatives and friends to submit records of Bristol men serving in the U S armed forces or rejected volunteers. Each record is a separate card for a permanent town archive, to ensure Christmas gifts reach current servicemen and honor those who offered but were rejected.

Soldiers Returning Home From Fort Rodman for Thanksgiving

About 65 men of the Third Company, U S A, stationed at Fort Rodman will be home in Bristol for Thanksgiving, while about 35 remain on duty at the Fort. Funds are sought to supply delicacies and a dessert for the on duty group, with cash donations encouraged at the Phoenix Office. A Thanksgiving event at the Naval Reserve Armory is proposed for service members and dependents, funded by a small admission fee for nonuniform attendees.
