Narrow Escape of Railroad Worker John Pardey
John Pardey, 31, a car inspector for the New Haven Railroad, barely escaped death when a loaded freight car knocked him down while coupling an air line in Providence's India Street yard. He dragged free, received abrasions, and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for observation after Conductor Edward Parker and Engineer Thomas Green assisted him.
