Boy Awarded 1575 in Accident Suit
A judge in Superior Court awarded five year old John Miranda damages of 1575 after an August 30 accident on Mt. Hope avenue. The car owned by F. J. Murphy Oai Co. and driven by Leo Simard struck the boy near First street, causing a compound leg fracture. The verdict followed a mutual agreement between counsels.

A nine member committee met at the YMCA to plan a four team Little League in Bristol. Roger W. Pigeon, temporary chairman, announced sponsors and strong public support. Plans include players 12 and under, twelve per team, with a 200 dollar per team cost and four teams totaling about 800 dollars. The league will use Wood Street Park or Guiteras Field with a diamond two thirds the size of the major league.

Two 38-Footers Break Moorings In Bristol Harbor
Two 38 footers broke moorings during a night gale at Bristol Harbor. The Roamer a 39 foot ketch owned by Hans Langendoen ran aground at head of harbor and was towed clear. The Lithan a 38 foot motor boat broke loose and rested on soft ground with little damage expected. A fishing boat owned by Charles Dunbar was rescued after breaking loose behind Collins and Aikman plant. The Coast Guard aided, a live wire outage caused no injuries, and ferry service was cancelled due to seas.

University of Rhode Island Name Change Proposed
Dr Clark R Woodward president of Rhode Island State College states the next General Assembly will be asked to rename the institution the University of Rhode Island. New Wage Contract Ratified At B M C
