Bristol District Nursing Association announces the annual Christmas Seals campaign starting Monday with about 30 million seals mailed to American families. The drive funds tuberculosis education, case finding, rehabilitation, and research, with 94 percent staying in state and 6 percent to the National TB Association and research.
Probation Officer Augustine Nerone and Attendance Officer Frederick Serbst spoke at Reynolds auditorium as 250 members attended the PTA. Nerone noted no Bristol cases before Juvenile Court, credits town recreation and strong industrial arts. Serbst cited truancy causes and parental responsibility.
The Bristol Townies travel to Warwick France Sunday to face Club 400 in Colonial League play. The postponed Manton Mohawk game is rescheduled for Sunday November 26 at James Park in Warren, according to manager Joseph Sousa.
A. A. Edmonds of the Bristol Rotary Club presented a small banner gift from the Rotary Club of Goole England to Bristol Rotary on Wednesday. The Town Council overruled the Zoning Board 3-2 to approve a petition by Frank J. Carmone and Salvatore A DeRosa to rezone from Residential B to Business F for a gasoline station at Hope and Wood streets. The issue, debated June 12 and slated for Nov 29 town meeting, centers on property values and zoning protections with council members split on the change. Frank L. Martin represented petitioners and Lucien Capone objected.
A horse owned by Frank Perry of Elm Farm was struck by a car driven by W Robert Jones of Beach Terrace on Hope Street near the Warren line. The animal, which wandered onto the roadway after escaping its pasture, was destroyed by police at 11 pm following the Bristol and Warren police notices.

A 15-year-old Bristol boy confessed to police chief Anthony Fer rara that he began a pattern of petty crimes after deciding to come clean. He admitted thefts including two cars last November and last Friday, plus multiple store breaks for cider cigars and pennies. Police aim to steer him toward staying on the right path.
