Bristol D A R Chapter hears paper on Glimpses of the National Society

Mrs Albert L Calder 2nd vice president general of the Daughters of American Revolution spoke at Bristol Chapter meeting, praising preservation efforts at the East Burial Ground. She traced DAR history from its 33 year origin to a 140000 member national society with Memorial Continental Hall and active educational programs.

Bristol Knights of Columbus celebrate 25th anniversary with banquet

Bristol Council No. 379 Knights of Columbus marks 25 years since its 1898 founding. A reception and ball at Hotel Belvedere followed a 7:30 a.m. mass. a banquet tonight will feature Governor Flynn and Bishop Huncky among speakers. The organization now counts 219 members and owns a State Street building.

Highway Reconstruction on Thames Street Near Completion

The Thames street highway work nears finish between the old Sugar House north to Constitution street. Contractors await a railroad trial run to decide if paving blocks below State street must be lowered. North of the Sugar House foundation gravel is laid and the north segment should finish this fall pending railroad track relocation.

Probate Court Actions Include Monuments and Guardian Petitions

In a Probate Court session before Judge Edward L. Leahy, the administrator was allowed to erect a monument for the Estate of Jared B. Sparks. The final accounts for Byron K. Firh and Mane R. Bowler were allowed. Lewis Magee, guardian petition for ward Lews Magee was continued to December 3.
