Fate Of Charter Known Tomorrow In Bristol
The fate of Bristol’s proposed home rule charter will be decided tomorrow in Providence as about 140 absentee ballots are opened at the secretary of state’s office. All 17 Bristol voting machines will also be opened and examined to address a discrepancy noted by the Bristol board of canvassers in the November 4 totals from four polling places. The chance that absentee ballots and machine corrections could overturn the charter’s 75 vote defeat is slim but mathematically possible.
