District Court holds special session Judge Bosworth presides
Friday evening session led by Judge Bosworth saw Daniel Falvey plead guilty to assault on Joseph Benjamin, fined five dollars plus costs, and ordered to jail to work off the fine. Harry Boxingdale convicted of drunkenness, fined one dollar and costs. Peter O Rourke pleaded guilty to vagrancy, six months at the state workhouse. A tramp named Effies, detained by Capt Morriesey, to be sent to the state farm for six months. John O'Brien charged with quarrelling and fighting, fined one dollar and costs. Charles Longley, charged with stealing a sailboat from George Cornel of New Bedford, discharged for lack of requisition papers. the crime deemed too trivial for action.
