A World Cruise Log From Hoboken to Madeira and Beyond
A shipboard travelogue narrates a six month voyage aboard the S. S. Cleveland of the Hamburg American Line. The writer, on a first class passenger list of about 650, describes life at sea, onshore excursions in Madeira, and plans to land in San Francisco in February 1910. Frequent social events, a band, and a steady schedule mark the journey through seas, storms, and tropical sights.

Water supply expanded from Echo Lake to Warren and Barrington
Bristol and Warren Water Works opens a new Echo Lake source to Warren and Barrington, laying 4000 feet of six inch pipes and planning a pumping station. Expect connection by Saturday to divert water from Kirkemuit to meet domestic needs while mills adjust and seek barged water, with forecasts of rain to ease shortages. Echo Lake holds about 22 million gallons, deemed adequate by state health officials.

Balcony song follows quarrel over neighbors' perception
A fragmentary dialogue shows a woman pleading for her partner John to listen as she sings, while he deflects with a concern that neighbors might think he is abusive. The exchange hints at domestic tension and social stigma.
