Scout Drum Corps Will Be Honored At Banquet

The Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps will be honored at a testimonial banquet on Tuesday evening December 17 at the Colonial Hotel. Speakers include Tim ONeill of Providence and J Harold Williams with motion pictures to close the program. The Citizens Committee and Warren Boy Scout unit are invited guests with many parents expected.

Schools To Close On Thanksgiving And Thanksgiving Holiday

Schools will be closed on November 21 and November 28 as proclaimed by the President and the Governor. The closure follows Chapter 191 of Rhode Island General Laws which designates holidays for all schools and bars sessions on those days. Cleanup Of Rubbish Scheduled For Next Week

Councilman Paul A Jieg announced a four day cleanup from Monday to Thursday led by Highway Surveyor Richard J Conner. The south of Church street will be done Monday and Tuesday while the north side is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Residents should place rubbish in receptacles.

Scouts Helm Ceremony For Naturalized Citizens

Cynthia McCaw Frances Anne Doyle Bertha St Angelo and Henrietta Matrone represented Columbine Troop 3 Bristol Girl Scouts at a Reynolds School ceremony for new naturalized citizens on Thursday evening. They were chosen at a Tuesday troop meeting with some girls earning leather badges and others finishing handicraft for their second class.

Class C Title Clash Postponed to November 28

Colt Memorial High School principal Edward J Fitzgerald announced the Rhode Island Class C title game between Colt and Burrillville High Schools is postponed from this evening to Saturday afternoon November 28 at 2 o'clock on Guiteras Field. Very wet grounds forced the change.

Dr Nugent Addresses Naturalized Citizens in Reynolds School

Dr Henry F Nugent State Supervisor of Adult Education and WPA Education and Recreation spoke to 72 newly naturalized citizens at Reynolds School. He urged service to the town and democracy, noting the value of citizenship across all backgrounds and beliefs. The program featured Americanization speakers Legion and DAR officers and musical items by local groups and Girl Scouts from multiple troops.

Draft Questionnaires Mailed This Week in Bristol

Draft questionnaires are being mailed at 25 per day by the Bristol County Selective Service Board. Draftees with questions should contact Tucien Capone or the county advisers, including Emilio Tannuccillo and Judge Edward I. Leahy, with no charge for inquiries. Reunion Of Four McCaw Brothers A Rare Occurrence

The four McCaw brothers sons of the late Mr and Mrs Samuel McCaw of this town gathered together this week an unusually joyful event Harold and Samuel both ship captains meet Arthur and Leon as a family reunion. Harold waits in Bristol for a new assignment while Captain Sam ships at Weyerhauser docks unload lumber from the west coast. All four attended a Rotary meeting and the St Albans Lodge F and AM gathering.

Eagles Elect Medeiros As Vice President At Meeting

Joseph F Medeiros was elected vice president Joseph Sansone as trustee and Louis Matrone as worthy conductor at a Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 953 meeting on Wood Street Monday evening. They will be installed November 25 at eight. A banquet to mark the 36th anniversary is planned for January 8, with Pasquale L Massano as chairman, Joseph Pannone secretary, John De Andrade Jr. treasurer and Francis P Cuoma ex-officio.
