Changes Planned for High School Campuses on Hope St

Knight D Robinson of Robinson Green and Beretta outlined proposed renovations to Bristol’s Hope Street facilities to align Colt and Andrews buildings with future needs. Plans include converting top floor Colt rooms to general classrooms, reconfiguring libraries and offices, expanding gym width, and creating new admin and guidance spaces. Project calls for 17 classrooms total after reorganization to accommodate about 600 pupils.

Armistice Day Observance Draws Small Crowd At Kearney

Armistice Day events at the Kearney post drew a very small audience under 50 as Orlando J Risbane national commander of ITAM War Veterans urged Americans to uphold patriotic paths. Wreaths were laid by five veterans posts representatives and Taps followed the outdoor service. An Armistice Day Mass for about 200 was held earlier at the R. I. Veterans Home chapel with Rev Mario Bordignon officiating and Dora Tannuccillo leading the church choir.

Tug Rescues Disabled Boat Off Warwick Lighthouse

Chief Norman S Pickett of the 64-foot Coast Guard Tug reported yesterday that the vessel was called out to aid a cabin cruiser half a mile southwest of the Warwick lighthouse. The cruiser Mary O had engine trouble but remained safe. owner Albert Marcoux of Woonsocket arranged repairs and the tug crew later found a severed steering cable requiring a jury rig to return to town.

Ellen Leahy Wins Voice of Democracy Contest

Ellen Leahy daughter of Mr and Mrs Vincent Leahy of 1176 Hope St this town won the Voice of Democracy Contest held yesterday afternoon in the Colt Auditorium. Mattie Ann Capone was judged second and Cynthia Marsden third. Andrea Nappi placed fourth. Judith Borges president of the Debating Club at the high school chaired the program. Rev John N Sinclair and James K E Sullivan were judges. Other participants included Suzanne Hazen Joseph Teixeira Matilda Sansone Frances Tamburro and Joan Huey.

Teachers Launch TEPS Committee To Raise Standards

Lions To Hold Record Hop Tomorrow

The Bristol Lions Club sponsors a record hop at the Army Reserve Armory on Colt Drive from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am. DJ Jack Spector of WPRO spins records with the Jack Spector Group featuring the Coros and the Fairlanes. Dick Caruso, MGM recording star and TV personality, will attend and appear on the Howard Miller Show from Chicago. Proceeds benefit Christmas baskets for needy families.
