Asciolla Presents Twofold Purpose Concert In Bristol
Catherine Hornby reports the third Bristol concert of the season at Colt Memorial High School. Paul J. Asciolla says the event benefits the Alumni Association scholarship fund and promotes local organizations sponsoring fine music. Oliver Burton Jr and Marian Van Slyke deliver a program including Handel, Toerilli, Scarlatti, Von Flotow, Mozart, Brahms, and African American Spiritual Works. The performance showcases Burton as a versatile dramatic tenor with strong diction and controlled phrasing, while Van Slyke provides supple accompaniment and support. The concert, praised for dignity and promise, launches an annual series under the Alumni Association to share music with Bristol.
