Bristol elementary schools may lose the state hot lunch program amid a dispute over hiring non residents as cooks. Four Bristol residents were hired originally, but three claim they were passed over while non residents were hired. The committee seeks explanations from RI Department of Education food services director Robert Kavney at the next meeting.

Town Council unanimously set a public hearing for November 22 at Bristol High School after neighbors from Harbour View Bayside Shores protested the proposed Town Beach athletic field complex. Work at the site halted pending hearing as residents alleging exclusion consider legal action.
