Beloved Town Official Dies In 77th Year

John W. Church Bristol town clerk for 37 years dies at Jane Brown Memorial Hospital at age 77. A Republican noted for nonpartisan service, he retired briefly before illness. Survived by wife Ida, a son and daughter, three grandchildren, and siblings. Funeral Monday at First Congregational Church. visiting hours set at Connery Funeral Home.

Work On Armory Dock To Begin Week Of Nov.19

The state armory dock project will start the week of November 19 after contracts were awarded. Seaboard Construction Co of Providence Tok awarded the $5,400 job to convert the National Guard property into a state pier. Thirty six piles will be driven around the granite pier and extend three and a half feet above the dock top.

Libel suit filed in Superior Court over Phoenix article

Anthony A Balzano, by attorney Ros Thomas, filed a libel declaration in Superior Court seeking $20,000 in damages. The suit names defendants represented by attorney William H Edwards and centers on a Phoenix article about a letter to the Zoning Bond relating to the vestry conduct of land near the foot of a rap station, with damaged claims described in the filing.
