The group will vote later on quorum rules as they finalize the charter draft, noting the nine volunteers’ unpaid public service.

Plans for Memorial Day Observance Outlined
Memorial Day events are slated to proceed pending weather. Ceremonies begin 8 a.m. at Juniper Hill and St Marys cemeteries, then services at Church St wharf for sea burials, with wreaths at Veterans Memorial Park and other sites. Parade starts 9:30 a.m. on Franklin Street with three bands and a police platoon, led by Chief Marshal Jerome M Donovan and Chief of Staff Anthony P Tasiello. The route passes Hope Street to the North Burial Ground for Soldiers Monument exercises, then to Burnside Memorial Building for patriotic ceremonies and the new honor roll dedication. Gov. Dennis J Roberts to speak. local officials and Veterans Council leaders to unveil the roll. If rain, parade canceled and exercises held at Kearney Post Home at 11 a.m. The honor roll dedication moves to Sunday at 2 p.m.
