The program for Memorial Day May 30, 1935, by Babbitt Post No. 15 and allied groups lists Grand Army Hall assembly at 9 a.m. in uniform or dark clothes. The route goes to North Cemetery and Soldiers Lot with ceremonies led by Vernon A. Gran, and feature scouts bands and D A R readings and Taps.

Mile of Pennies Drive for Fourth of July Fund Starts

Bristol launches a mile of pennies fundraising drive for the July Fourth celebration. Campaign chairman Fred Wilbur asks townspeople to fill one-foot cards with sixteen pennies each, distributed to homes by committee members. The plan aims to raise over 800 dollars.

Downtown improvement planned for Hope Street bank area

The Town Council approved a plan to reshape the east side of Hope Street between State and Court streets with cement steps and a four foot sidewalk extension. Steps in front of the YMCA Post Office and A L Johnston's will stay, with cement coverings added between them, and a few trees will be removed to improve downtown parking access.

First Holy Communion for Mt Carmel Children

Thirty to forty? no. 70 boys and girls will receive their first Holy Communion at 7 30 Thursday morning services at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church with Rev Joseph Sorzana officiating. In the afternoon the children join in the annual May procession with St Rita's Girls Club participants, including Miss Theresa Turilla and Miss Josephine Maturi. The new organ was dedicated last Sunday with Bartholomew Marenchino blessing the instrument or the occasion.

May procession at St Marys Church honors Shrine statue

More than 200 children joined the annual May procession at St Marys Church Sunday afternoon. Sisters of Mercy led the procession around the church grounds and to the Shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Catherine Hammill presented a golden crown on the statue assisted by attendants and other young girls represented in the ceremony.
