Harvard investigators examined Daniel Douglas Home, a famed 19th century mystic, as furniture and a table reportedly floated and rocked in a well lit room. The piece recounts his rise from a Connecticut upbringing to European celebrity, imperial patronage, and rumors of fraud.
Emilie L Kunz of 111 High Street Bristol reaches her 90th birthday surrounded by family and friends. Born May 28 1865 in Philadelphia she spent most of her life in Bristol where her father ran a bakery and ice cream parlor on State Street. She recalls ministers old friends and notable locals including General Ambrose Burnside and her brother Charles whose tenor voice was well known. Now wheelchair bound she cherishes memories of a lively hometown and looks forward to more birthdays.
Dr. Russell S. Bray was chosen chairman of the Planning Board succeeding Roger W. Pigeon, who declined renomination. Manuel Prenda was reelected secretary as the board began initial work on an ordinance.

August R. Alves of Barrington, 32, was run over by a 10 ton truck at a Viall gravel pit. He suffered critical injuries and lay awaiting medical aid for 25 minutes before an ambulance took him to Rhode Island Hospital.
Samuel J. Smith is commended by the Bristol school committee for voluntary care of the grounds at the Kearney Post American Legion home. The letter notes the committee’s continued interest in the property appearance and favorable remarks on Smith’s service, with no fee involved.

Bristol honors veterans with Memorial Day services at St. Michael’s Cathedral 11 am Sunday led by Rev Canon Delbert W. Tildesley. A 9:30 am Monday parade from Kearney Post on Franklin Street proceeds to Hope Street and the North Burial Ground with ceremonies at RL Soldiers’ Monument and Hope Street monuments. National speakers include John A. Ryder and Rev Clyde J. Walsh, with Lincoln Gettysburg Address read by Robert Paiva.

Miss Virginia Bernard daughter of Mr and Mrs James Bernard has won a State Business Teacher Training Scholarship for four years to Bryant College Providence Rhode Island announced by Dr Michael F Walsh State Commissioner of Education. Bernard lives at 380 High Street and is in the senior high school graduating class.
