Chief Anderson Wins Battle Over Pumper Size
Fire Chief Robert J. Anderson opposed the towns purchase of a 1000 gallon Seagraves pumper and maneuvered the committee to instead buy a 750 gallon Maxim. The defection tied a later vote 3-3 before Connery shifted to break the deadlock, while Anderson maintained his stance against the Ahrens-Fox. Local firefighters voiced disappointment that the committee rescinded the 1000 gallon purchase, urging the town to obtain the best possible equipment with the $13,000 appropriated.
