Bristol Demonstration Tests Driving Safety Devices

Bristol Safety Council hosted a two day exhibit for Steerometer and Reactometer devices at a hotel store. Officials said many participants scored high on steering with some reaching 96 percent and many reacting within three eighths of a second.

Mrs Capone Elected Bristol County PTA President

Mrs Lucien Capone of this town was elected president of the Bristol County Council of the Parent-Teacher Association for a two year term at the annual Warren High School meeting. Mrs Robert H Dunbar of Barrington was chosen first vice president, with Adele Sturdevant as 2nd vice president and Reeves Harper, secretary, Farles Hobson, treasurer. The event featured about 100 members, remarks by John Harkins and Edwin Tynch, and a reception before adjournment. The next meeting is set for November 14 at Peck High School in Barrington.

Bristol Y M C A names and officers at annual meeting

Mapes re elected president of the Bristol Y M C A board at the annual meeting in the Y building on Hope Street. Other officers named include Henry W Peterson as vice president John G Stewart secretary and Charles B Rockwell Jr treasurer. James Winthrop De Wolf and others re elected to the board for three years. The treasurer reports a deficit of 107 dollars for the year. Plans include programs by the Olympian Club Viking Club and the Y for youths aged 12 to 14 with older boys as leaders and a campaign goal of 3500 dollars to fund activities and space use reevaluation for bowling alleys potentially becoming a wrestling room handball court or business room.
