County spelling bee entry for Bristol Warren and Barrington students
Bristol Warren and Barrington schools enter twenty one Bristol pupils and an equal number from Warren and Barrington for a county spelling bee to be held next Friday at Barrington Town Hall under Barrington Post American Legion auspices. Students from fifth to seventh grade will spell words chosen by a neutral narrator with specific contest rules.

George R. Fish Named Operator at New Sewage Plant
George R. Fish, a former newspaper man and Bristol County Boy Scouts leader, was appointed second operator for the town’s new sewage disposal plant by the Bristol Sewer Commission. Harvey Gladue remains the first operator. Poppy Day Observed in Bristol by Legion Auxiliary
On Saturday May 25th the Kearney Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary will distribute red poppies on Bristol streets to honor World War dead as part of the national Poppy Day observance. A Bristol committee led by Mrs Walter Carr Chyarya oversees the drive with volunteers and past commanders assisting. Poppies are made by disabled veterans in Rhode Island and funds support living veterans and orphans.

A Saturday YMCA Olympian Club program raised funds for the Dwyer Memorial Fourth of July fund. More than 400 attended as Allan M Newman hosted the event with twenty eight amateurs competing. The plot centers on Dan Krohman invited to a party by Mrs Daniel Dean for her would be son in law Tom Bennett. Tom objects due to accusations against Krohman by Blake administrator of the Castleton estate. A lively quarrel ends with Kid Burns noting Bennett was present at the bell but out at the finish. Blake calls it the finest fight he ever saw. Reserved seats at Hamill's store are selling fast.
