A long feature traces Arctic exploration from 860 Iceland to 1954 Labrador voyages. Commodore Robertson recounts key explorers such as Cabot, Frobisher, Davis, Hudson, Franklin, and McClure, then notes 1954 Labrador voyages and the Spar in 1955 as ships aim to map and someday regularize the route with diesel icebreakers.
