More than 100 volunteers from three local Roman Catholic parishes prepare to canvass starting Sunday for the annual Catholic Charity Fund Appeal. Campaign runs through May 25 with parish-specific canvassing and a unified treasury, led by St. Marys and other church officers and teams.

The Bristol Rotary Club funds a future Colt High School Band by staging the Broadway play The Boomerang on June 24 and 25. Proceeds go to equip band members with caps and capes, aided by leading local actors and three professionals including Alice Hepburn. The event supports Mrs Theresa Donovan’s music program in the public schools.
PWA inspector B M Hall says the Bristol Memorial High School project is advancing satisfactorily with the gym wall rising, window frame setup, electrical work near completion, and storm drainage by plumbers. Air mail stamps go on sale this week for the first time as collectors seek first covers. Postmaster Daniel W. Coggeshall will open the Bristol post office Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 o clock for sales and cachet decorated air mail envelopes designed by John W Haley Rhode Island Historian.
Miss Alicia Hopton Middleton mistress of Hey Bonnie Hall Charleston area died yesterday morning after about a week of illness. Born September 23, 1849 in this town she authored Life In Carolina and New England During The Nineteenth Century. Funeral plans await nephew Russell Doar of Georgetown. Burial will be in Charleston. She championed charity and plantation memories, once flew in an airplane, and remained a refined aristocrat to the end.
