C A opened the Bristol Twilight League season with a 6 1 win as Park Commissioner John P Marshall pitched and John Borges caught. Albert Fusone of the recreation board batted for C A while Ed Massa sparked Bristol runs. Meanwhile Bristol public hearings on bus fare between Bristol and Providence were scheduled with Town Council President Gilbert Hoover coordinating.

Cinderella Comedy Presented By Our Lady Mount Carmel Church

Children from Our Lady Mount Carmel Church present Cinderella and The Seashore sketches at Guiteras auditorium this week. Cast includes Joanne Squatrito as Cinderella and Grace Castro as Fairy God Mother with a large student cast portraying stepsisters, duke and nobles. The performance follows the fairy tale of Cinderella with a magical gown and glass slipper ending in a royal reunion.

Bible Class Members Earn Diplomas at St Elizabeth Church

Ten members of the Bible Class at St Elizabeth's Church received diplomas in Sunday graduation exercises held in the parish hall. Catholic Charities Appeal Totals 2743 with 359 Contributors

Frederick T Goff chair of St Mary's Catholic Charities Appeal reports receipts totaling 2743 with 359 contributors so far. He notes 286 fewer contributors than last year while urging volunteers to canvass districts for final counts at the St Mary's auditorium event Wednesday at 6 30 pm.

Women's Club Recital Highlights Bristol Event

The Bristol Women's Club held its final open meeting in Colt Auditorium with President Mrs Raymond Makowsky welcoming members and guests. Guest artist Phil Saltman performed modern and popular pieces, including Gershwin and Cole Porter selections, and the event featured improvisational pieces titled Fun at the Piano. The annual meeting and officer installation are set for June 14 at the White Rail Riding Club.

Bristol Town Council Sets Fourth of July Committee

Council names July 4th celebration committee and subcommittee to secure surety from concessionaires. Several long time members are replaced and new appointees added to broaden the volunteer base for the town’s traditional Independence Day events.

Bristol Aerie FOE held a meeting at State Street headquarters to launch a blood bank. Joseph F. Pannone was named chairman and will form a committee to coordinate with hospitals and other groups. Details to come as arrangements are made. blood donations from members and nonmembers will be accepted for those in need.

Bristol Polo Club Wins Third Straight. Philips Stars

Lyle Philips led Bristol with key scores as the Bristol Polo Club defeated East Bridgewater 7 to 4 in a five chucker match. Laurette Paddock and Laurette contributed early, Laurette and Philips clinching late to secure Bristol’s third straight win in southern New England.

Third Annual Bridge Committee Named By Bristol Club

The Bristol Women's Club announced the committees for the Third Annual Bridge event to be held at the Church Street Armory on Tuesday May 25 at 8 p.m. Cochairmen are Mrs Sebastian Bernard Jr and Miss Mary A Street with Mrs Earl G Sturdevant handling drawing for silver service, Mrs Carl H Witherell tickets and marker, Mrs Howard House refreshments, and Mrs O Reid Le Clair chucker.

Woman Official Scorer Helps Kiwanis League Game in Asbury Park

Helen Trotter Birtwell and sister Edith Paull visited the Phoenix and recounted how Helen volunteered to score a Kiwanis league baseball game in Asbury Park when the official scorer was absent. Her late father Rev. Wm Trotter once kept score for many Common games and Jim Peters recalled his son Yale catcher with a scar from a famous curveball.
