Foam protection for strawberry blossoms against frost
History notes frost protection by foam applied to strawberry blossoms inspired by University of New Hampshire work and later tested by Purdue University. Dean A. Eggert demonstrated foam layers in trials kept minimum temperatures higher than 17 degrees without foam, with 28 to 34 degree protection depending on foam type, and 40 to 50 percent survival of open blossoms under foam versus five percent without.
