Overcrowding Seen As Enrollment Grows In Bristol Schools
Superintendent Edward J. Fitzgerald warns that rising enrollments force moving 7th grade to Guiteras Memorial and redistributing 4th and 9th grades to Colt Andrews and other buildings. He stresses rapid planning, updating the 1962 state survey, and careful budgeting as the town seeks coordination in financing services.

Bristol considers local control for Self-Help Inc hearing set
Bristol Town Council announced a public hearing for June 3 to discuss local control of the federal anti poverty program Self-Help Inc. If approved the program would be called the Community Action Agency of Bristol. The council also began studies of Swift's Point roads and a cliffside shack, prompted by complaints from about 32 residents. Harrison Street residents say maintenance is the town's responsibility. Roderick said the issue is right of way.

Walker urges assistant town solicitor amid budget gaps
Bristol councilman James Walker told the Bristol Jaycees on May 9 that the 1968 69 budget shows wages totaling 1 595 630 a 7 percent rise from 1967 68 with 112 460 for schools and 11 400 for police among increases. He argues for a part time assistant town solicitor at 3 465 annually to handle surging municipal cases and provide swift support to departments, while noting a second budget difference in the town engineer account.
