No-Cuts-On Commuting Or Through Passenger Service

New Haven Railroad officials say there will be no cuts to commuting or through passenger service when the 25 percent reduction in steam locomotive mileage takes effect Friday May 10. Narragansett Race Track trains from Boston will be canceled. Diesel locomotives will replace steam on Shore Line and some will double as commuter engines while New York trains mostly keep current schedules. Freight embargo rules grant liberal handling within electrified corridors, allowing movement between electrified New Haven territory and other railroads for shipments like food fuel livestock seeds and magazines.
